Membership Rules

Eligibility

  • The terms of the lease agreement with Richmond Borough of Richmond Upon Thames state:
“Any member of the public may join the membership of the Club. The Lessee (the Club) shall at all times ensure that the residents of The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames are given priority in considering applications for membership.”
  • Because of the severe constraints on parking in the area, and because there are no ablution facilities at the Club or any public ablution facilities within easy walking distance, priority is given to those who are able to walk or cycle to the Club.

Number of members

  • The Club has only a single tennis court and has agreed limits to membership so that all families can access the court at least once each weekend.  Playing 8:00am to 8:00pm gives 24 playing hours over two days; on this basis membership is limited to twenty-four families.

Family use

  • Use of the court is extended to the immediate family of a member.
  • Immediate family shall include spouses, partners, children or grandchildren of a member or other family residing with a member
  • The term “member” in these rules shall include their immediate family.

Fees

  • The joining fee is £1,000.  Application, with strong supporting reasons, may be made for the joining fee to be partially or wholly waived.
  • The annual fee for each calendar year will be set by the Board and will be payable by 31 March each year or two weeks after being set, if later.  The fee shall be set per family household irrespective of the number of members in that household.
